Obituary of Leonard H. Barnette, Jr.

Leonard H. Barnette, Jr. of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old. Leonard was born on February 6, 1946 in Paterson, NJ to the late Leonard and the late Madeline (Sarnelli) Barnette. Leonard was a foreman in the plastic industry and he worked for several local companies for many years before retiring. Mr. Barnette was a Vietnam War Veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was also a longtime resident of Hopatcong, NJ. Leonard was an Atlanta Braves and a Green Bay Packers fan and he enjoyed betting on horseracing. Leonard is survived by his son, Leonard H. Barnette, III and his sister, Beverly Barnette Spicer. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn in 2019. Leonard's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday, December 9th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Catholic Prayer Service offered at 7:30 pm followed by Military Honors at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. All funeral arrangements are under the direction of and entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.
