Obituary of Robert W. Cunningham

Robert W. Cunningham of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the VNA Hospice in Dover, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Robert was born on May 22, 1944 in Norwich, NY to the late Donald and the late Dorothy (Walker) Cunningham. Robert was employed as a heavy equipment operator and welder by the Rockaway Twp. Road Department for many years before retiring. He also worked as a welder for Lock-Joint Pipe (formerly Interpace) in Wharton, NJ. Mr. Cunningham was a Vietnam Veteran and he proudly served his country in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Robert was a history buff and an avid reader. He along with his brother Mark, collected and restored antique farm tractors. He was particularly fond of his restored Farmall C and loved teaching his grandsons how to drive tractors. Robert was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong and member of the Metro NJ Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society. Robert is survived by his devoted children; Alan Cunningham and Belinda Tuneblom, her husband, Per and his cherished grandchildren, Samuel and Liam. Additional survivors include his siblings, Paul Cunningham (Sharon), Margaret Boice (Art) and Christine Wright (Bob), his sister-in-law, Patricia Cunningham and many additional relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald Cunningham and Mark Cunningham. Robert's Life Celebration will include a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, January 22nd from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Prayer Service and Military Honors offered at 1:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. All funeral arrangements are under the direction of and entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.
