Obituary of Sebastian V. Alongi, Sr.

Sebastian V. Alongi, Sr. of Hackettstown, NJ and formerly of Stanhope passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old. Sebastian was born on March 3, 1942 in Newark, NJ to the late Frank and the late Conchetta (Livolsi) Alongi.

Mr. Alongi was a credit manager at FIA/First Indemnity Of America in Parsippany for many years. He graduated Barringer High School in Newark and then attended Rutgers University. Sebastian was a loving husband and a proud & devoted father and grandfather. He was a lifelong NY Giants and NY Yankee fan. Mr. Alongi was also a musician and an original member of "The First Silver Beats" band. He enjoyed watching his son's live shows, going to the casinos as well as singing karaoke with his favorite rendition of Frank Sinatra's "My Way".

Sebastian is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marianne (Emmolo), his son Sebastian, Jr. and wife, Christine and his cherished granddaughter, Adrianna Alongi. Additional survivors include his brother, Paul Alongi, his sister, Julie Palma, his many fur babies, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Angela O'Brien in 2019 and his brother, Anthony Alongi in 2014.

Sebastian's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. There will be a prayer service offered at 10:00 am on Wednesday morning, January 5, 2022 also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp., NJ.
