Obituary of Ruth Helen Patamia

Ruth H. Patamia of Netcong, NJ passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 after being stricken by a stroke. She was 88 years old. Ruth was born on September 27, 1933 in Dover, NJ to the late Alfred and the late Gladys (Robinson) Cocking.

Ruth was a longtime resident of Dover, NJ and relocated to Netcong 7 years ago. Mrs. Patamia was employed at Howmet and Rockaway Sales for many years before retiring. Ruth could always be counted on to help out at the family restaurant "Fanucci's" and she also volunteered her time feeding the homeless in Dover. Ruth enjoyed going to the casinos, playing bingo and long weekend jaunts to the Lancaster area. She also took pleasure in making jam and pickles with her sisters, shopping from catalogs and baking. Ruth's greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving and devoted family – to her "family was everything".

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Thomas, her devoted son, Thomas and his wife, Maria; her cherished grandchildren, Dawn Patamia and her fiancé, Luke Miller, Stacy Ammar and her husband, Shadi, Erin Kaphan and Stefano Patamia and her great-granddaughter, Safiya Ammar. Additional survivors include her sisters, Gladys Singewald and Shirley Law, her sister-in-law, Phyllis Cocking and too many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends to mention. Ruth was pre-deceased by her brothers, Alfred Cocking, John Cocking and Henry Cocking and her sister, Elizabeth Lange.

Ruth's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday, February 15th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Catholic Prayer Service offered on Wednesday morning, February 16th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Ruth will be laid to rest at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp., NJ. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
