Obituary of Carrie Mae Peterson

Carrie Mae (Tye) Peterson, "Miss Tye" of Landing, passed away on Monday February 23, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus. She was 90. Born on February 24, 1924 in Eufaula, AL, Carrie resided in Florida and numerous other locations before moving to the Landing section of Roxbury Township over 40 years ago. She retired from her position of Secretary at Morristown Memorial Hospital before working in the Jewelry Department of Walmart in Ledgewood until just a few years ago. Carrie loved playing the slot machines, especially on vacations with family, but her greatest joy was spending time with her only, adoring grandchild, Marisa. Survivors include her daughter, Andrea Tangarife and husband, Abel and a son, James R. Peterson and wife, Judi and her cherished granddaughter, Marisa. In addition Carrie was very close with the Tangarife side of her family, including Oscar, Mario and Javier and their spouses and children. Carrie was predeceased by a sister, Reverend Esther Perkins. Carrie's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering on Saturday February 28 from 2-6pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. Cremation will be private.
