Obituary of Abigail "Abby" Nicosia
A beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, sister and friend; Abigail Sara Nicosia left this world at just fourteen on 23 March 2022. Abby courageously battled a brain tumor since July 2021.
Born in Newton, NJ to Ken Nicosia and Jaclyn D'Olivo, Abby attended the Sacred Heart School in Rockaway, NJ until the 3rd grade and then attended Byram Intermediate School where she graduated in June 2021 and received the Presidential Honor Award for Academics.
Abby lit up every room she entered with her infectious smile and unique sense of humor. She loved Broadway and being on stage acting, singing or doing improv. Some of Abby's favorite memories are from her time in drama, performing, rehearsing or just having fun off-stage.
Abby also found time for field hockey, lacrosse and friends who she adored. Abby enjoyed going to Great Adventure, Quick Check or just being together with her friends.
Perhaps the biggest influence in Abby's life was her family. She was an amazing big sister to Kaiely and had a very special bond with her cousins who were like sisters to her.
Abby loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Disney, Hershey, Mystic, CT, Rocking Horse Ranch and especially her yearly trips to North Carolina with her "OBX family".
Abby was adored by and spoiled by her grandparents and Aunts and Uncles, who each had a very special relationship with her.
Because of her selfless personality, one of Abby's wishes was to be a donor. She fortunately was able to improve the lives of babies in the NICU.
Abby's services will be private and entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing, NJ. A public Celebration of Abby's Life will be announced in the future. Please omit flowers. The family requests donations to Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation, "Direct to New Brunswick Facility – In Memory of Abigail Nicosia" 150 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ 07092.
