Obituary of Gerald A. Lopato, Sr.

Gerald A Lopato, Sr, 90 of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, passed away April 14, 2022 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church 204 Espanong Rd Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 10AM.

Jerry was born in Morristown, NJ to John and Josephine Lopato on 2/19/1932. He grew up Morristown and attended Morristown high school. Jerry is a Veteran serving in the US Navy. He served honorably in the Navy, achieving the rank of Radarman Third Class Petty Officer. He worked as a member of the District Council 711 Local 1047 Painters Union for over 50 years. Upon retiring, he continued his education in landscape oil painting, becoming a lifetime member of the Art Students League of New York. He sold and won awards with his landscape paintings including the Salamundi Award.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sydell of Lake Hopatcong. His sister, Geraldine Roberts of Texas. His son Jerry Jr and wife Judy of Texas, son Richard Lopato of Mount Arlington, son Michael Lopato of Mount Arlington, step-son Scott Davidson and wife Kerry of Michigan, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mildred of White Haven, PA.

His family was very important to him. He loved his sons and continued to praise their endeavors and never stopped talking about them.
