Obituary of John Lawrey III

John Lawrey III passed away at home on June 3, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. He was 62. Born and raised in Mt. Arlington, John later lived in Lake Mohawk before finally settling in Green township where he lived for the past 25 years. John was the owner of JL Painting Company, with the majority of his work being performed in the Sparta/Lake Mohawk area. He built up a large number of repeat customers over the years who appreciated the quality of his work. John was an avid antique bottle collector, starting his collection in his teen years and continuing to build it until his final days. He had many friends in the bottle collecting community, and his presence at the many bottle shows will surely be missed. John was also a collector of baseball cards, antique postcards of Lake Hopatcong and coins. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. He is survived by his parents, John & Yvonne Lawrey of Myrtle Beach S.C., his brother Dan of Peru N.Y., his brother Brian and sister-in-law Janice of Green Township N.J., his sister Marylee and brother-in-law Mike of Pawley's Island S.C., his nephews Lucas & Brian and his nieces Casey, Shannon, Michele and Riley. John's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday, June 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a Catholic Prayer Service offered at 7:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. All funeral arrangements are under the direction of and entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.
