Obituary of John Earl Sutton, Jr.

John Earl Sutton, Jr. of Washington Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 87 years old.  John was born on September 11, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ to the late John Earl, Sr. and the late Mary (Kaberna) Sutton.

Mr. Sutton was a partner at Data Safe, Inc. in Whippany, NJ for many years before retiring.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.    John was a member of the Pedal Steel Guitar Club (NY) and the Senior 50 Plus Club in Chester.  He also was an avid model train collector and he also took pleasure in creating pen and ink drawings.  John resided in Washington Twp., NJ for the past 2.5 years and previous to that, he lived in Netcong, NJ.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (nee Weinbel), his sons Jim Sutton, Charlie Sutton (Trudi) and Ralph Ebeling (Maribel), his daughter, Debbie Booth, 9 cherished grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Myra in 1987.

John’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.  There will be a prayer service offered at 12:00 pm immediately following the visitation also at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover, NJ.  All funeral arrangements are under the direction of and entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.  For memorial donations, please consider The Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street Santa Monica, CA 90401   or  www.pcf.org
