Obituary of Herbert W. Steger, Jr.

Herbert W. Steger, Jr., 85, of Hopatcong passed away on Sunday September 11, 2022 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville Campus

Born on March 10, 1937 in Dover, NJ to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Farkas) Steger, Herbert has resided in Hopatcong for 56 years.  He was a Machinist/Supervisor for Service Metal Fabricators. Inc in Rockaway, NJ prior to retirement.

A member of the Hopatcong Senior Center "Golden Lunch Bunch", he enjoyed woodworking and was an avid wood carver of animals.

Herbert was predeceased by his wife, Lois “Joan” in 2012 and a sister Dorothy Bahr.

Survivors include three children James Steger and wife Patricia, William Steger and wife Connie and Deborah Mabey and husband Kenneth, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Herbert’s Life Celebration on Wednesday September 14 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing.

A Prayer Service will be offered at 11:AM on Thursday September 15 in the funeral home.

Herbert will be laid to rest with his wife Lois “Joan” following the Prayer Service in the Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
