Obituary of Charlotte Rena Schiavo

Charlotte Schiavo, 95, of Hopatcong passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover.

Born in Camden, NJ, Charlotte resided in Jersey City while attending nursing school where she was a cadet nurse. After graduating she worked at Margaret Hague Hospital in the Maternity Ward. Charlotte married Gustave in 1952 and moved to Mt. Arlington in 1959 where she raised her 6 children. She returned to nursing in 1973 and worked at Dover General Hospital as a discharge nurse. She subsequently worked at Morris View Nursing Home, Dover Christian Nursing Home and retired from Merry Heart Nursing Home at 70 years old. She later moved to Hopatcong to live with her youngest son, Gustave where she lived out her remaining years.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Gustave Schiavo, son Thomas Schiavo and her brother Frank Ashmen. She is survived by her five children Joseph, Robert, Teresa, John and Gustave Schiavo, Jr. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 171/2 great grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life Party at the Mt. Arlington Elks on Sunday, November 27, from 4 – 6pm.
