Obituary of Matthew Emmet Nolan

Matthew Emmet Nolan, 87, of Mt. Arlington passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at his home. Born on January 19, 1935 in Bronx New York to the late Michael J. and the late Ann Marie (Connolly) Nolan, Matthew was a sergeant with the New York City police department prior to his retirement. He also was a hospice nurse in Rockland County New York. A graduate of St. Ann's Academy High School, Manhattan College and Rockland County College, Matthew was a member of the Knights of Columbus. At one point he had a sailboat that he took out on the Hudson River and later on Lake Hopatcong once he moved to Mt. Arlington. His love of classical music led him to taking piano lessons in his 80's. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee: Slevin) Nolan. Devoted father of the late Kevin and the late Matthew. Dear father-in-law of Delia Nolan and Christine Nolan Farnsworth. Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Jerry, Michael, Christopher and Katie Nolan. Dear brother of Augustine Nolan, Br. Bernard Nolan, Rita Olsson and the late Patrick, John, Peter, and Mary. Cremation arrangements are private.
