Obituary of Joseph F. Walsh

On December 8, 2012 Joseph F. Walsh lost his battle with cancer, at his home, with his family by his side. Joseph was born in 1945, in Pittston, PA and moved to the Port Morris section of Landing as a child. He has resided in Wantage for the last 33 years. Joseph served as sergeant with the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. He then served for 26 years with the New Jersey State Police, retiring as sergeant. In 1977, Joseph received "The Blue Max", a prestigious, meritorious service award for bravery. After retiring in 1996, he worked as the Head of Security for 9 years at Selective Insurance in Branchville. Joseph is Survived by his wife, Sharon of 42 years, daughter Kathleen Bailey, her husband Marc and Grandson Kellen of Frankford, Son Joseph R. and his wife, Debra Walsh of Wantage, son, Michael of Branchville, brothers Jerry and wife, Carol of Landing, and Thomas and wife, Margie of Kenvil, sister-in-law Leslie of Landing, brother-in-law, Ralph Townsend of Netcong, sister-in-law, Barbara Sisko and husband, Joseph (John) of Denville, father-in-law, K. Robert Thompson of Randolph and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Margaret, father, Jerome, brother, Patrick, sister, Judy Townsend and nephew, Patrick, Jr.
