Obituary of Edward M. Borkowski

Edward Borkowski, 73, of Hopatcong, NJ died on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center. Edward was born on November 13, 1949, the eldest son of Edward J. and Ann S. (Super) Borkowski in McKeesport, Pa. Hospital. The family lived in Glassport, Pa. until Edward left for college in 1968. Edward met Karen Ensrud Borkowski, at King's College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa in 1968. They were married on July 29, 1972. Edward is survived by their daughter: Rebecca Borkowski Schnetzer (Theodore), grandsons: Andrew and Jacob, a sister: Monica (Joe) Gatchie, two brothers: John "Birdy" (Joni) & Joe (Peggy), a sister-in-law: Shauna, a brother-in-law: David Ensrud and many cousins, nephews & nieces in Western Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia areas. Edward also leaves behind "friends that became family", Kathie Taft. Sadly, Edward was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Karen in 2017. In 1972, began his career as a Computer Programmer at Prudential Insurance Co., Group Health Dept. Then in 1993-2005, he with his partner, James Daggon, ran their own computer technologies company, Artios Office Technologies. Edward was active in his community. He was a Girl Scout Leader, First Aid & CPR instructor, an officer in the Vasa Order of America, Arlington Lodge, active in the Knights of Columbus and Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce. Edward enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching local baseball games of the Sussex County Miners and Somerset Patriots with the grandsons, and of course he loved watch the NY Giants (when they were winning!). Edward's Life Celebration Services will include a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 21st at 2:30 pm at the Stanhope United Methodist Church, 2 NJ-183, Netcong, NJ. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the Church on Saturday for the service and a repast downstairs. All services were entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ.
