Obituary of Anna M. Karl

Anna M. Karl formerly of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The House of the Good Shepherd Care Center in Hackettstown, NJ surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years old. Anna was born on February 14, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Henry and the late Matilda Rurade Mitchell . Mrs. Karl and her late husband, Howard were longtime residents of Hopatcong and then moved to Alburg, Waitsfield and Rochester, Vermont. While living in Vermont, Anna and Karl owned and operated a small country store. In addition to operating the country store, Anna was also employed as a bookkeeper for the Green Mountain School District in Vermont. She enjoyed skiing (water & snow), gardening, reading, walking and knitting but most importantly, Anna loved spending time with her cherished family and friends. Anna is survived by her daughters Kathryn (John) Liebenow, Cape Coral, Fla., Lorraine (Mike) Flora, Stanhope, NJ and Jeanne Lorito, Mansfield Township, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Flora, Jr. Stillwater, NJ, Brian (Tracy) Liebenow, Essex Junction, VT, David (Cas) Liebenow, Barre, VT, Nicki Flora, Hardwick, NJ, Amy (Nick) McAllister, Millington, TN, Jennilee (Eric) Lorito, Kenvil, NJ, Daniel (Joanna) Flora, Byram, NJ and Katelin (Joe) Lorito, Succasunna, NJ and her 13 great- grandchildren. Anna was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Howard in 2011. Anna's Life Celebration Services will include a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Prayer Service offered at 3:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.
