Obituary of Thomas F. Rovito

Thomas Rovito, 64, of Hopatcong, passed away suddenly on Thursday February 16, 2023 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus.

Born in Hoboken, NJ on April 12, 1958 to the late Gennaro and Clara (Tibaldi) Rovito, Tom was a lifelong resident of Weehawken, NJ prior to moving to Hopatcong where he spent every summer, weekends and enjoyed life on the lake. Four years ago Tom and his wife Lisa built their dream home in Hopatcong where they had planned to spend their retirement. Tom also enjoyed skiing, traveling, cooking and riding his motorcycle.

Tom is survived by his wife Lisa (Blank) Rovito, his mother in law Joan Blank of Jackson, NJ, his sister Marianne Lorenz (Fred) and brother Richard Rovito (Debra). He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews Michelle Denfeld (Mark), Michael Lorenz (Lynn) and Mark Lorenz (Margaret) Dana Rovito, Erica Renz (Tim) and Jill Rovito as well as many great nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Tom was a member of Weehawken Elks #1456 for over thirty years serving as an officer and secretary for the lodge. He transferred to Lake Hopatcong Elks Lodge #782 four years ago where he held officer positions and was most recently Lodge Esquire.

Tom retired from the Weehawken Board of Education as Facilities Director and more recently worked as Personnel Supervisor for the DPW in the Township of Weehawken part time and was scheduled to retire by the end of the month.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3-7 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A Catholic Blessing will be held at 3:30 PM and an Elks service will be offered at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Remaining services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date at Lake Hopatcong Elks Lodge #782.
