Obituary of Scott M. Dodenhoff
Scott Michael Dodenhoff of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was 58 years old. Scott was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY to Cheryleann (Ogland) and Ronald Dodenhoff. He was a long-time resident of Hopatcong and was a graduate of West Morris Central High School in Long Valley, NJ.
Scott proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a submarine nuclear propulsion plant supervisor and was a resident on the USS Dallas and the USS Augusta. During his time on board he went on several deployments including one around the world and in the Mediterranean and North Atlantic. He received an amplitude of awards for his dedication and service and was forever proud of his days with the Navy. He stayed in contact with a lot of his shipmates and loved to tell many stories about his time in the service and all the places he was given the pleasure to travel. Scott also pridefully served his community while being an EMT and EMT instructor, alongside being a firefighter. He left this world continuing to give back by being an organ donor. His last selfless act on earth saved others.
Scott excelled being a superintendent in charge of critical systems integration and implementation for Dynamic US Incorporated, previously employed by ASCO Services from 2005-2022.
Where Scott really shined was being a loving husband to April (Grotyohann) Dodenhoff for over 24 years and an incredible father to Hannah (19) and Jillian Dodenhoff (18). He will also be greatly missed by his best friend and dog, Ozzy. Scott touched the lives of many family and friends and will forever be remember by his amazing sense of humor, incredible food, and sarcastic remarks, but most importantly his loving demeanor. He always gave the best hugs. Scott was loved by all with his infectious laugh and bright, beautiful blue eyes.
His favorite hobbies included drumming with his band, his extensive passion for all things music, and being an avid reader. Cooking for his family and friends is how he showed his love. Among all of these, the place he loved and grew the most was spending time with his wife, daughters, nieces, nephews, great neices, and dog.
