Obituary of Bruce H. Hanson

Bruce H. Hanson of Port St. Lucie, FL (formerly of Jefferson Township, NJ) passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at Port St. Lucie Hospital from complications of an illness.

He was just shy of his 81st birthday.

Born on April 6, 1942, in Hollis Queens, NY to the late William H. and the late Beatrice E. (Lamouree) Hanson, he was a resident of Jefferson Township, NJ for nearly 40 years prior to moving to Port St. Lucie about 2 years ago to be close to his sister, Gail. As a youth and teenager, he would spend his summertime in the Catskill Mountains, working on family farms, the Catskill Game Farm and partaking in general mischief with the locals there.

A Navy veteran, Bruce was a union carpenter with Local 620 in Madison prior to his retirement. But his greatest remembered love was the four years spent in Arkansas as a farmer, raising pigs, chasing cows, and eating fresh food from his own garden, milk cow and farm animals.

He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, and drinking beer with his many friends, and was considered a 'regular' at the former Mt Hope Inn.

Beloved husband of the late Dorothy "Diane" (Moore) Hanson. Devoted father of Suzanne H. Bergeron, Denise M. Holleritter (Chris), Tara Jean Brown (Christopher), Kristin L. O'Malley (Lee), Beau E. Hanson (Terry), Tara B. Griswold and Todd B. Hanson (Lisa). Cherished grandfather of Jacquelyn Bergeron, Renee Bergeron-Todd (Codie), Samantha Holleritter, Travis Prevatte, Christopher Holleritter III, Ashleigh O'Malley, Justin Hanson, Logan Holleritter, Tyler Prevatte, Jessica O'Malley, Alyssa Griswold, and Michael Griswold. Loving great grandfather of Skylar B. Prevatte. Dear brother of Gail Pollhein (Tom) and the late John K. Hanson (Elaine) and the late Robert Hanson (Patti). Dear brother-in-law of Teresa Maiello and Pat Maiello. Remembered fondly by many special nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bruce's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 30 from 5:PM to 9:PM in the funeral home.

A Prayer Service will be offered on Friday, March 31 at 10:AM (also in the funeral home).

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association.
