Obituary of Damiano Stabile
Damiano Stabile, 92, of Succasunna, formerly of Clifton and Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Friday March 17, 2023 at Paragon Village in Hackettstown.
Born on January 6, 1931 in Jersey City, Dom was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving for four years on board the USS Van Valkenburgh during the Korean War. He was a hardworking man his entire life and spent the majority of his years of employment with The American Can Company and later with ADT. He loved his music, especially opera, doing his word search puzzles and was very proud of his completed and framed jigsaw puzzles depicting naval themes and lighthouses.
Dom enjoyed beautiful days on the front porch keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood and waving to all who passed by. His greatest joy was interacting with family and friends. Dom is a parishioner of St. Luke's Parish in Long Valley and took great pleasure and comfort in being able to participate in Mass via streaming service.
Pre-deceased in 2018 by Pauline (nee Efimenko) Stabile, his devoted and loving wife of nearly 57 years and his infant son, Peter; his beloved parents Theresa (nee Martello) and Angelo Stabile and his nine siblings and their spouses as well as three nephews.
Dom is survived by his dedicated daughter, Sally and her husband Michael; as well as his devoted son, Steven and his wife Tina. Dom (aka: "Poppy") will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren Sarah, David and Kimberly (Caruk) Smethy and Emma Stabile and his always comforting grand-dog, Elsa and newest family dog member, Trixie. Also surviving is his last remaining sister-in-law, Betty Stabile and many loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
