Thomas Reichert

Obituary of Thomas M. Reichert

Thomas M. Reichert of Hopatcong passed away Monday April 17, 2023 at St. Claire’s Hospital, Denville.

He was 76.

Born in Peekskill NY, he lived in Ringwood prior to moving to Hopatcong 19 years ago.

Prior to his retirement, Tom was a special education teacher with the Paterson Board of Education. Prior to this, his entire career was dedicated to special education in both New York and New Jersey.

An avid Yankee fan, he guided and inspired youths on their path forward, always offering advice and “adopting” anyone who need TLC or just wanted to listen to a man who had great wisdom, life experience and advice. Prior to Spinal Fusion Surgery in January of 2012, he enjoyed playing golf (especially on Father’s Day) and loved playing pool with his customized pool cue. He loved connecting with his former students on Social Media and catching up with them on their lives, accomplishments and families, especially since retirement. Tom also had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren. He loved spending time with each of them and supporting their unique personalities, interests and passions.

Tom donated to many educational and supportive charities, including but not limited to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Joseph’s Indian Schools and The Mouth and Foot Painting Association for Disabled Artists.

Devoted father of Mia Cosgrove and Brenn Feeney (Brian). Loving grandfather of Devin and Alex Feeney and Reiley Cosgrove. Dear brother of Margaret Bullock and the late Donald Reichert. Cherished son of the late Raymond A. and the late Helen (O’Reilly)

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Tom’s Life Celebration on Saturday April 22 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM in the funeral home.

Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.pva.org).
