Obituary of John Lodato

John Lodato, 69, of the Budd Lake section of Mt. Olive Township passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 24, 2023.

Born in Newark, NJ on April 21, 1954, John and his wife raised their family in Harrison, NJ and then relocated to Belleville, NJ prior to settling in Budd Lake in 2019. John worked as an Inspector at Sims Metal Management in Newark, NJ before retirement.

John's passion for life was incredible. He traveled to so many wonderful places and experienced so many amazing things. He enjoyed calligraphy, classic cars and great food. John's greatest joy was his family.

He was predeceased by his father, Alfred (Sonny) Lodato, stepmother Joan Lodato, brother Jerry Lodato and two sisters Janice Noguera and Joyce Angelo.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Smith), two daughters Michelle Lodato and Chrissy Curry (Eddie), a brother Daniel Lodato, two sisters Lisa Lodato and Tara Lodato and a granddaughter Gianna Curry, who was the light of his life.

Arrangements are private and entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing, NJ. A Celebration of John's Life is being planned for a later date.
