Obituary of Edna Fanelli

Edna Fanelli, 96, of Hopatcong passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center on Wednesday November 22, 2023.

Born in New York City on February 13, 1927 to the late John Malcolm and the late Bertha Radice, Edna has resided in Hopatcong for many years.  She worked as a Bookkeeper for JJ Newberry’s Department Store in Dover for 25 years.  Edna was also the owner of The Village Gift Shop in Hopatcong. 

Edna enjoyed ceramics, arts & crafts as well as being a vendor at various craft shows.  She was an avid reader and member of the VFW #10101 Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Hopatcong Seniors.  Edna took great pride in supplying her family and friends with her amazing homemade short bread. She was our great family story teller

Edna was predeceased by her husband; Nicholas, daughter; Camille Fanelli-Alvarado, brother; John Malcolm and three sisters; Lillian Stuart, Margaret DiGeorgio and Kathryn Firello.

Survivors include her daughter; Denise A. Gulick and two sons; Nicholas R. Fanelli and Ron A. Fanelli and his wife Jo Ann, 13 grandchildren; Kristopher, Jason, Marina, Samantha, Jennifer, Brittany, Robert, Ryan, Megan, Matthew, Nichole, Stephani, Crystal, and 9 great grandchildren and two more blessings on the way.  Additional survivors include numerous, wonderful nieces & nephews and dear friends.

Edna’s Life Celebration will include viewing hours on Wednesday November 29 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A prayer service will be offered on Thursday November 30 beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Family and friends may gather on Friday morning starting at 9:30 AM.
