Obituary of Herbert Appleberg

Herbert I. Appleberg, 91, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 4th, 1932 to the late Abraham and Frieda (Futterman) Appleberg, Herbert has resided in Mt. Arlington for 54 years. Prior to retirement, Herbert was a Sales Representative/Technical Writer/Draftsman.

Herbert enjoyed casino excursions and was an avid reader. He was a passionate NY Yankees fan and an enthusiast on all things New York City. Those who knew him well were often amazed at his ability to solve mathematical equations like a "human calculator". He served proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. His greatest joy was socializing with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; Delly (Monagas), children; Stefi Moskovits and her husband; Ben, Amber Appleberg and her fiance; Greg Jolley, Brett Appleberg and his wife; Michelle and Liana McReynolds and her husband; Scott, sister; Marilyn Appleberg, grandchildren; Zachary & Jessica Moskovits, Greyson & Carter McReynolds and Aries Caban. Additional survivors include In-laws, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Herbert's Life Celebration will be conducted privately. The family will announce a public memorial gathering at a later date. All arrangements are entrusted to Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing, NJ.
