Obituary of Robert F. Zawistowski

Robert F. Zawistowski, 62, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away Friday morning February 16, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Fredon.

Robert was born on March 26, 1961 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Robert P. and the late Dorothy C. (Tkaczyk) Zawistowski. Robert was a long-time resident of Hopatcong. He worked for Montclair State University where he was the Manager of Buildings and Grounds prior to his retirement. He was always handy and known for his ability to fix anything and everything. He was known to “Bobby things up to the “all you gotta do is….” stage.  Robert enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and was an avid football and baseball fan. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America. At the end of the day, all he needed was his family and midnight burgers.

Robert’s always put his family first.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving Wife Daria (Creedon) Zawistowski, his children Natalie Pospisil and husband Scott, son Eric Zawistowski, five grandchildren; Amelia Pospishil, Oliver Pospishil, Alice Pospishil, Gabriel Zawistowski, and Artemius Zawistowski, Sisters, Janine Byrne and husband John Byrne, Dorothy Rainey, Cynthia Apostol and husband Michael Apostol, Mary DeRosa and husband Gregory DeRosa, brother Edward Zawistowski and wife Jennifer Zawistowski, brothers-in-law; Michael Creedon and wife, Annette and Marc Creedon and wife, Theresa, sister-in-law; Nancy Walsh and husband, John and many nieces and nephews; Melissa Bowen and husband, Brandon, Rachel and Jessica Creedon, Christine Byrne, Lena Simon and husband, Michael, Thomas Rainey and wife, Katelyn, Corinne Rainey, Adam Rainey and wife, Genevieve, Caroline and Catherine Apostol, and Justin and Lucas Zawistowski. Also surviving is former daughter-in-law, Anna Luarsabova

Robert is predeceased by his brother-in-law Thomas Rainey.

Robert’s Life Celebration will include visiting on Monday February 19, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A prayer service will be offered at 5:30 PM at the funeral home.  Cremation is private.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
