I was so sorry to hear of Father George's passing. Unfortunately, my own health issues precluded me from attending either the Wake or the funeral. George was my cousin, albeit, 14 years my senior. Nevertheless. we shared a special memory from over 60 years ago. My Dad planned a 40th Birthday party for my Mom in our basement. George attended, however, being on the shy side, he ended up spending the whole evening upstairs sitting on the hall steps with 14 year old me! We talked and laughed for hours during which George would make periodic trips down to the basement to bring us party food and drinks (always "Cocoa-Cream" soda for me)! As our Aunts and Uncles continued to arrive for the party, George and I shared jokes about the "old folks" as they played their "party games" (what brats we were!)! Shortly after that evening, George came to visit and brought me a giant stuffed dog with a brown and cream coat which he nicknamed " Cocoa-Cream"! I was thrilled and felt a very special bond with my very special cousin! With the exception of the Annual Family Picnics, and the occasional "Cousins' Party", we seldom saw each other in the years that followed and pretty much lost touch, altogether, as, one by one, our parents, aunts, and uncles passed away, and extended family get-togethers became almost non-existent. Very sad...
Anyway, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to my cousin Donnie, George's brother...and to my cousins, Jim, Karen and Sue whose late Mom (Aunt Jo) was the twin sister of George and Donnie's mother (Aunt Julie).
