Obituary of Thomas A. Gorman

Thomas Alfred Gorman, 76, of Cragsmoor, NY, passed away on Saturday April 27, 2024 at Dover Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dover, NH.


Born on April 11, 1948 in Hackensack, NJ to the late Gerard and the late Viola (Staudt) Gorman, Thomas served proudly in the United States Air National Guard for three years, the Army National Guard for three years and the US Army and Army Reserves for 26 years earning the rank of Major. 


Thomas was a graduate of Netcong High School in Netcong and enjoyed attending reunions with his former classmates. NJ He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University and a Masters degree in music from the Manhattan School of Music.  Thomas was retired from his position as a Computer Assistant at West Point Military Academy.


He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellensville, NY.  He was an accomplished musician playing the trombone, sackbut, fife, recorders, Irish drum and piano.  He enjoyed cross country skiing and kayaking.  Thomas trained the Biathlon team at West Point and toured Northern Italy playing Renaissance music at historic Baroque churches. 


Thomas also enjoyed researching his family history and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.


In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by two brothers; Daniel and Kenneth Gorman.


Survivors include his sister; Kathleen Santos and three brothers; David, Gerard, Jr. and James Gorman.


Thomas’ Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Thursday May 9, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  Thomas will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
