Obituary of Irene M. Burdge

Irene M. Burdge of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Clare's Hospital Dover Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old. Irene was born on August 1, 1933 in Hopatcong, NJ (the house next door) to the late Lewis F. and the late Lottie J. (Hooey) Sutton.

Irene was a descendant of one of Hopatcong's oldest families. Mrs. Burdge enjoyed crocheting, collecting knick-knacks, dining out and watching HGTV but most importantly, Irene cherished her time with her devoted family, her dogs and her many dear friends. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Budd Lake Starlight Chapter. Irene also helped operate her husband's Plumbing Business for many years and assisted with managing her son's tile business, as well.

Irene is survived by her devoted children, Richard Burdge, Jr., Daniel Burdge, Betty Johnson and her husband, Greg and Lynn Ritchie and her, husband, Tom. Additional survivors include; her cherished grandson, Jason Johnson, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Burdge, Sr. in 2015 and her grandson Matthew R. Johnson in 2023.

Irene's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Sunday, July 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Prayer Service offered on Monday morning, July 15th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Irene will be laid to rest with her husband at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt.
