Obituary of Peter C. McGilligan

Peter C. McGilligan of Landing passed away Sunday October 21, 2012 at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown. He was 74 years old. Born in Dublin Ireland, he came to the United States in 1960 sponsored by the Keller family of Morristown, NJ where he flourished in the restaurant business. He later lived and worked in New York, NY as a restaurant manager for O'Casey's and later was a railroad mechanical worker for Metro North in New York, NY prior to his retirement in 2005. Peter moved to Landing in 1976. A collector of model trains, Peter was a member of the Garden Chapel in Victory Gardens, County Donegal Association of Wilkes Barre, PA, the Bridge Line Historical Society and the Transportation Communications Union. Beloved husband of the late Mary P. "Maureen" (nee: Maye) McGilligan. Devoted father of Colin R. McGilligan and his wife Rosemarie of Hopatcong. Dear brother of Lorraine Stierle of Wicklow, R. of Ireland and Judith McGilligan of Bray, R. of Ireland. Cherished uncle of Karen Purcell of Dublin, R. of Ireland.
