Obituary of Edward K. O'Brien

Edward K. O'Brien of Mt. Arlington, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Edward was born on November 13, 1944 in Hoboken, NJ to the late James and the late Julia (Sheeler) O'Brien.

Edward had an extensive and varied career. He was employed as a Social Studies Teacher at Don Bosco Technical High School in Paterson, NJ, a Credit Manager at Dynapac Manufacturing in Stanhope, NJ and finally, a Credit Manager at Atlantic States Casting Iron Pipe Company in Phillipsburg, NJ where he retired after many years. Mr. O'Brien was very proud of his Masters Degree from Wagner College and his Bachelors Degree from Rutgers. Edward was the ultimate Rutgers Football Fan and loved the New York Yankees as well but, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving and cherished family.

Edward is survived by his devoted daughters; Tracy O'Brien, Lauren O'Brien, and Cindy O'Brien, his step-sons, Donald Sodora and Kenneth Sodora and his cherished grandson, Ryan Sodora. Additional survivors include his ex-wives, Elsie O'Brien and Dorothy O'Brien and his siblings, Shelia Hoffman (Kurt) and Kathy Spitler (Jerry). 

Edward's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday, December 5th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. There will be a Catholic Prayer Service offered on Friday morning, December 6th at 10:00 am also at the Funeral Home. Edward will be laid to rest at Calvary Mausoleum at 58 McClean Road in Paterson, NJ.
