Obituary of Doris M. Sand

Doris May Sand, (Hoppes), born on September 1, 1930, lovingly known as "Gams", passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories on December 3, 2024 in Denville, NJ.

As the matriarch of her family, She was a loving mother to her son, Robert W. Sand Jr. A cherished grandmother to Rene White (Sand) and husband Roger White, Adele Sand, Robert (Butch) Sand, and Curtis Sand. A great grandmother to Jacquelyn Loder, David C. Loder III, Jonathan White, Roger White, and Ryan White. And a great-great grandmother better known as "Gammy Gams" to Declan M. Lenegan. Her presence made their family, five generations strong.

Raised in Newark, NJ. She worked for Bristol-Myers for 30 years. She lived in Bloomfield, NJ, Union, NJ and Melbourne, FL before moving to Hopatcong, NJ where she resided for the last 8 years of her life.

Doris loved two things deeply: her family and a good trip to the casino. Her joy of gathering her loved ones and her knack for turning everyday moments into unforgettable memories was unmatched. Gams had a warmth that made everyone feel special.

Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a family who will honor her memory with love in the same commitment to each other, that she taught them by example.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert William Sand Sr. and her parents, Wallace F. Hoppes and Florence L. Conley.

A celebration of her life with prayers will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 8:30am to 10:30am at Leber Lakeside Funeral Home 150 Landing Road Ledgewood, NJ 07850 with interment following at Graceland Memorial Park 1900 Galloping Hill Road Kenilworth, NJ 07033.
