Obituary of John W. Miller

John W. Miller of Hopatcong, NJ died on Tuesday, February 3rd at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 71. He was born on January 6, 1944 in Newark, NJ the son of the late John C. Miller and the late Mary E. Sykes Miller. John lived in Hopatcong for the past 43 years. John was a Signal Inspector for NJ Transit Rail Operations for more than 42 years. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Belleville Elks Lodge #1123 and the Brotherhood of Signalmen #84 where he served as its Financial Secretary. John enjoyed trips to the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City but most importantly he cherished his time with his five grandchildren. John is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lois (Biebel), his daughter, Jennifer Perno & her husband, Anthony J., his son, Brian J. and his wife, Lauren and his cherished grandchildren who knew him as their "Bupa"; Kyle, Katy, Kamryn, Anthony IV and Nicholas. Additional survivors include; his sister, Lois E. Biebel and her husband, William, his nephews, William J. Biebel and Phillip Gabelman and his niece, Lisa Gabelman Graziano. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Gabelman. John's Life Celebration will include visiting on Thursday, February 5th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday February 6 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 South Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ. Cremation will be private.
