Obituary of Karl Burkhardt

Karl Albert Burkhardt (Bucky), of Landing, passed away on Sunday July 29, 2012 at his home. He was 53. Karl was born in Morristown, NJ on March 25, 1959 to the late William and Joan Burkhardt. Karl grew up in Hopatcong and was the youngest of three children. Karl loved all sports. He played baseball, basketball, track and his favorite sport of all, football. Karl was an avid swimmer and loved to lifeguard during summers at Lake Hopatcong. Karl also enjoyed fishing, especially with his brother, William. In 1979 Karl met the love of his life, Terri Doublosky at the Lighthouse in Hopatcong. Karl and Terri were married May 9, 1981. Karl was a devoted family man who had an infectious laugh, was a free spirit and wore his heart on his sleeve. Karl's theme song was "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty. He worked in plant engineering for United Parcel Service in Parsippany. In addition to his parents, Karl was predeceased by a daughter Jamie Lee. Survivors include his wife, Terri, children, Kandice, Kristy and Karl, Jr., his granddaughter, Lily and a brother William, Jr. He will be deeply missed by his mother-in- law and father-in-law, Dottie & William Doublosky. Karl was a great man and will be sorely missed by all.
