Obituary of Frank D. Hughes

Frank D. Hughes of Mt. Arlington passed away March 19, 2012 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover. He was 72 years old. Born in Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck on November 4, 1939 to the late Joseph and Gladys Hughes. Frank was a member of the first graduating class of Bergen Catholic High School in 1959. He was a resident of Mt. Arlington since 1967. Frank worked for the New York Daily News for 15 years. He also taught Desktop Publishing at Sussex County Vo-Tech and sold desktop publishing equipment. Frank enlisted and served with the New Jersey National Guard from 1963-67. A devoted parishioner at Our Lady of The Lake Church in Mt. Arlington, he was a member of the Mt. Arlington Fire department for 6 years, a member of the Mt. Arlington First Aid Squad for 10 years, president of the Mt. Arlington Board of Health for 6 years, he was appointed to the Lake Hopatcong Lake Commission by Mayor Arthur Ondish for 6 years and also the Land Use Board of Mt. Arlington for 6 years. Frank was the Chairman of the Special Events Committee in Mt. Arlington and a Boy Scout Leader in Mt. Arlington. His hobbies include camping, anything computers or electronic and boating on Lake Hopatcong. Beloved husband of Anne Marie Phillips-Hughes. Devoted father of Julieanne Fernandez and her husband Daniel, Katherine Blake and her husband John, Rebecca Martin and her husband Randall, Michael Hughes and his wife Lauren and Dr. Francis Hughes. Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Stephanie, Danielle, Matthew Fernandez, Ryan, Gabrielle Blake, Patrick and Kendall Hughes and Jackson Martin. Cherished Great grandfather of Samuel Fernandez. Dear brother of John Hughes, Gladys and Mary Hughes, Patricia Anzevino, Therese Rizzo and the late Joseph, James, Thomas, Lawrence and Reverend Hubert Hughes.
