Obituary of Harold W. Wenz

Harold W. Wenz, of Hopatcong, died Friday February 17 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63. Born and raised in Queens, NY, Mr. Wenz resided in Hopatcong for 38 years. His schooling included St. Elizabeth's Parochial School in Queens and Brooklyn Technical High School. He earned an associates degree from County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ and also attended Queens College and the University of Maryland. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1973 and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a computer programmer and MIS Manager for KDI Electronics in Whippany. He also was employed by Dreier Structural Steel and performed work on the World Trade Center in NYC, in the maintenance department for Mendham Schools and was the owner of HW General Contractors in Hopatcong. Mr. Wenz was one of the founding members of the St. Jude's Knights of Columbus Council 9914 in Hopatcong, was a K of C MSGR. Lance Assembly 4th degree color guard and also was a member of American Legion Post #278 in Stanhope. Devoted husband of 42 years of Manuela (Vazquez-Martin), loving father of Harold and wife, Amy of Lake Stevens, WA, David and wife, Patricia of Portland, OR, Joseph and fiancé Margaux of Portland, OR and Michael of Hopatcong, Adoring grandfather of Celia Rose and Kamryn Marley, beloved son of Margaret of Webster, NY, dear brother of Margaret Devine and husband, Jack of Spring Lake, NJ, Virginia Vail and husband, Dan of Webster, NY and Robert and wife Veronica of East Brunswick, NJ, cherished uncle of eight nieces and nephews.
