Obituary of Joan Margaret Burkhardt

Joan Margaret Burkhardt passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at home in Hopatcong surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years old. Born in Morristown, NJ Mrs. Burkhardt has resided in Hopatcong since 1963. She worked as a cafeteria worker for the Hopatcong School System for 10 years. Mrs. Burkhardt was very artistic; she enjoyed ceramics and was an avid reader. She was a passionate Yankee fan and also cheered for any team that the Frazier boys were on. She loved fishing with her sons and spoiling her grandchildren. Loving wife of the late William J. Burkhardt Sr. Beloved mother of William Jr. and his wife Christa Klausman-Burkhardt, Karl Burkhardt and his wife Terri and Lee Ann Burkhardt. Dear sister of Gail Ernestine Whitenack and Levi Douglas Hann. Cherished grandmother of Kandice, Kristy and Karl Burkhardt & Courtney and Brittany Creegan. Adoring great grandmother of Samantha Creegan and Lily Polster. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Gloria Tompkins and Palma Frazier and two faithful and lifelong friends Edward and Elizabeth Cooney. A private graveside service will be conducted.
