Obituary of Jean Marie Poggi

Jean Marie Poggi, age 61, of Sparta, NJ died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, NJ surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born September 1, 1953 in Montclair, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Terrence and the late Rosemary (Conway) Garvey. She was an administrative assistant employed by the North Jersey Media Group in Rockaway, NJ. She graduated Morris Catholic High School and then attended County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Robert E. Poggi, her devoted daughters; Kristen Marie Corcoran & her husband, Shawn and Michelle L. Poggi, her devoted son, Robert T. Poggi and her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie & Nolan Corcoran. Additional survivors include her sisters; Catherine (Garvey) Million, Carol (Garvey) Gogel, and Maryellen (Garvey) Gilgan, her brother, James Garvey, her father-in-law and mother-in-law; Robert E. Poggi Sr. and Johanna Poggi and their children; Bianca, Paula, Peter, Johanna, Christopher, Jarrod and Guy and their spouses and many nieces and nephews. Jean was known as a genuine, kind and affectionate person. Often doing selfless deeds for those she loved. She enjoyed ceramics, reading, especially Stephen King Novels, Going out for romantic dinners and cleaning her home while scented candles burned in the background. She loved to travel. Some of her favorite places were Ocean Beach, NJ, Hackelbarney State Park, Punta Gorda, FL, San Francisco and Boston. Jean was fond of whale watching, going to Broadway plays and decorating the family Christmas tree for the holidays. Most importantly, Jean enjoyed time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. Jean's Life Celebration will include visitation on Sunday, December 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, December 8th at 10:00 am at St. Matthew the Apostle RC Church, 335 Dover Chester Road, Randolph, NJ. All are invited to meet directly at the church on Monday morning. Interment will immediately follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
