Obituary of William S. Sarson

William S. Sarson died Sunday December 20 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. He was 81 years old. Born in Passaic, Mr. Sarson grew up in Rockaway and resided in the Indian Lake section of Denville prior to moving to Mine Hill in 1953. He has resided in Hackettstown for the last three years. He worked as an engineering technician at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway before retiring in 1983. Mr. Sarson served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1945-1946 and was a graduate of Teterboro Aeronautical School. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 164 in Hackettstown, N.A.R.F.E. Chapter 424 in Dover, the Heath Village Men's Club in Hackettstown and his hobbies included bowling and golf. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Hope (Schelling), his daughter and son-in-law Cynthia & Samuel McMillan and two grandsons Steven and Timothy McMillan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial gathering on Wednesday December 30 from 2-4 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. The remaining services will be held privately.
