Obituary of Elma A. Lant

Elma A. (nee: Walter) Lant, 93, of Hopatcong died Thursday October 8, 2009, peacefully at her home where she was cared for by her family and Compassionate Care Hospice. Born in Newark NJ, Elma moved to Hillside when she was 5 years old. She graduated from Hillside High School and Berkeley School of Business. She was employed at Merck & Company in Rahway and was a secretary at Theodore Walter Copperworks in Newark. She was the beloved wife of the late Stewart G. Lant, her high school sweetheart, for 58 years. They lived in Orange, Livingston and then in Hopatcong for 45 years. Elma was a member of the Hopatcong Women's Club, an honorary member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, a charter member of the Livingston Presbyterian Church, member of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum and the Knee Deep Club. Devoted mother of Elma-Jean Wood of Hopatcong. Cherished grandmother of Matthew S. Wood and his wife Renee of Asbury and Scott R. Wood and Sandra Levitt of Lake Mohawk. Loving great grandmother of Samantha N and Brandon M. Wood.
