Obituary of William Schelling
William "Bill" Schelling of Hopatcong passed away Friday April 4, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover.
He was 84.
Born in Hopatcong, he was a lifetime resident.
Bill was a Navy Korean Conflict veteran who served aboard the USS Midway (CVB-41) and who also was a member of the Royal Order of Blue Nose. A member of VFW Post #2047, he enjoyed swimming, boating and ice skating on Lake Hopatcong. An avid NY Yankee Fan, he was also a civil war history buff who as a young man enjoyed camping on Bedbug Island.
A security guard with Picatinny Arsenal in Dover prior to his retirement, he also was a part time milkman for Roy Stone Creamery. After retirement, he was a security guard with St. Clare's Hospital, Dover.
Beloved husband of Eleanor R. (nee: Kolesar) Schelling. Devoted father of William T. and his wife Jasmine Schelling. James Schelling, Karen Schelling and Joanne M. and her husband John Scarpanito. Loving grandfather of 3 granddaughters. Dear brother of Sue Blaich, Adjee Guerriere and Sally Ann Search.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Hopatcong Ambulance Squad, PO Box 334, Hopatcong, NJ 07843 or to a charity of a person's choice.
