Obituary of Leonard George Katchmaric

Leonard George Katchmaric of Hopatcong passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover. He was 77. Born in Mahanoy City, PA, he has lived in Hopatcong since 1971. A Navy Veteran during the Korean War, Leonard was employed with Whippany Paper and Hercules/Alliant Tech. He also worked security for Calvin Klein and Morristown Airport. A parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church in Mt. Arlington, he held the positions of Union Delegate and Vice President and Treasurer of the Steelworkers Union. He was a Little League Umpire for Bernham Park in Morristown and coached the Mishara Raiders for many years, a member of the Hopatcong Seniors serving as past president, vice president and trustee and was awarded Hopatcong Senior of the Year in 2008, a member of the Hopatcong Mayor's Advisory Board and a member of the Golden Lunch Bunch. Leonard enjoyed his active life with his children and grandchildren. He loved taking the entire family on family cruises and to Hawaii (one of his favorite places in the world) whenever he could. He enjoyed traveling with the Hopatcong Seniors, watching the New York Mets and the New York Giants and cultivating his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with everyone. Beloved husband of Roseann V. (nee: Klocek) Katchmaric. Devoted father of Debbie Cornine and her husband David, Christine Houtz and her husband Mike, Leonard Katchmaric and Marie Galate and her husband Duane. Cherished grandfather of David Cornine and his wife Deanne, James Kaphan, Heather Piergies and her husband Joe, Katlyn and David Houtz and Amanda and Lenny Katchmaric. Loving great grandfather of the late Tristan Kaphan and a great granddaughter on the way. Dear brother of Joseph and the late Robert Katchmaric.
