Obituary of William H. Schmitt
William H. "Bill" Schmitt died Wednesday October 29, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. He was 61 years old.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Phillip and Adeline, Bill resided in York, PA prior to moving to Hopatcong in 1974. He earned his bachelors degree in Marketing from Gannon College in Erie, PA. He was a salesperson for GTE Sylvania in Teterboro. Bill was a member of Big Brothers of America, volunteered at the Dover Soup Kitchen and St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Flanders, a member of the Hobie Cat Fleet of Lake Hopatcong and loved sailing and golf. He was well known as one of Santa Claus' helpers during Christmas time when he would dress in his Santa costume for neighborhood Children and also at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.
Loving wife of Debby (nee, Weber) and dearest brother of Paul Schmitt of Pahrump, NV and the late Maryanne Pepka (1991).
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday November 3 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 61 Main Street, Flanders, NJ 07836. Cremation was held privately.
