Obituary of Helen J. Skawinski

Helen J. Skawinski, of Hamburg, formerly of Passaic and Parsippany, passed away on Tuesday February 18 at The Homestead in Frankford Township. She was 96. Born August 1, 1917 to the late Anthony and Mary Verbovsky in Wallington, Helen lived most of her life in Passaic and Parsippany prior to moving to Hamburg 8 years ago. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed many fishing excursions with her late husband, John, especially to the Jersey Shore. Devoted wife of the late John, loving mother of Martha Walker and husband, Richard and Susan Torrance and husband, Peter and dear sister of John Verbovsky. Survivors also include 4 grandchildren, Jane Cautero and husband Vincent, Mark Walker and wife, Deborah and John and Michael Torrance, a great grandson, Matthew Cautero, 2 step great granddaughters, Shelby and Breanna Johnston and a step great great grandson, Darian Ortiz. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by a great grandson, Nicholas Cautero. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen's Life Celebration on Thursday February 20 from 4-7 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing. A Litrugy of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday February 21 beginning at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Mt. Arlington. Cremation is private.
