Obituary of Robert Kenna

Robert "Bob" Kenna, age 75, of Hopatcong, NJ died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born September 15, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late John E. and the late Gertrude (Shaud) Kenna, Sr. He was a longtime resident of Hopatcong, NJ moving from Brooklyn, NY 43 years ago. Bob was a butcher and owned Kenna's Meat Market in Morris Plains, NJ for many years. He later operated his own computer & wiring company. In addition, Bob earned a degree in Agricultural Husbandry from SUNY Farmingdale and he also attended Rutgers University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bob was extremely proud of his four daughters and their many accomplishments. He was a staunch republican and a longtime parishioner of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong. Mr. Kenna was also an avid gardener but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his cherished family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Hanley) Kenna and his four daughters; Jeannine Bender & her husband, Todd, Denise Decker & her husband, Rick, Sharon Van Ostenbridge & her husband, Mark and his youngest daughter, Brenda Kenna. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his brothers; Jack & Richard Kenna Bob's Life Celebration includes visitation on Friday, September 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Funeral Mass offered on Saturday, September 27th at 10:30 am at St. Jude RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, NJ. Cremation will be held privately.
