Obituary of August M. Bencivengo

August M. Bencivengo died Friday March 7 at his home in Rockaway Twp. He was 95 years old. Born in Netcong, Mr. Bencivengo resided there prior to moving to Rockaway Twp. 36 years ago. He was retired from the NJ Department of Transportation in Netcong where he worked as a truck driver, retiring in 1972. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Bencivengo was an active parishioner of St. Bernard RC Church in Mt. Hope and past parishioner of St. Michael's RC Church in Netcong. He was a member of the VFW Post of Stanhope and the oldest member of the Knights of Columbus Council of St. Michael's RC Church in Netcong and also the oldest member of the St. Cesario Society of Netcong. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie R. (nee: Colella), three brothers, Chester, Peter and Henry and two sisters, Virginia Carducci and Ann Pellegrino. Loving husband of Stella (nee: Tufano), Beloved father of Lorraine Bird and her husband Dave of Winter Springs, FL and Marlene Amato and her husband Ralph of Branchville, Adoring grandfather of Ryan and Daniele Amato, Dearest brother of Mildred Pagano of Cedar Knolls, Carmella McMullen of Spotswood and Vera Griffin of Netcong.
