I truly am sorry that you have passed on before I had a chance to reunite with my grandfather. From reading all of the kind words that those who have known you best have written, I know that you were a hardworking man who took care of his family first. Hopefully by reconnecting with our family I will be able to learn everything about you and what you stood for. My deepest condolences go out to my aunts and the rest of the family. I truly understand your pain, but we must take solace in the knowing that he is now in a better place.
Love,
LeShia

Mary, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.
Sincerely Deb
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

I am sad that you have left this world, but relieved to know that you are no longer suffering and are together again with Mom and all the rest of the family who have passed before you. I can't express enough what a wonderful, kind and loving Father you were and such an incredible human being. I hope that I am even half the person who were. I will miss your smile and hearing you say I Love You as you always did. I know you are with God in Heaven and that's the greatest joy I feel. I will miss you always. Love your skinny minnie, Jody

Pop..you were born into an imperfect world...5 years before the Great Depression in a country who was suffering no only economically, but spiritually. Women's rights, immigrant assimilation, and black apartheid were very much a part of your shaping. You were a part of the generation that was taught to pursue the great american dream...especially for european immigrants. What you found was hard labor working as a janitor and then security guard. You worked your fingers do the bone and provided for your 4 daughters, your wife, and her mother. You sacrificed so that they, and we could do better. You re-examined and challenged the principles you were taught of racism and seperatism and loved your black grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You were proud of the family that you produced and I want you to know that I was proud of you. I am glad Meysun got to know you. I am glad that you are no longer suffering. May your heaven be filled with all the food your stomach can hold and the best cigars you can imagine. I will miss you!

I hope that your journey was peaceful. I know that you had joy in your heart when you were reunited with those in our family who have gone before. Tell them all we love and miss them and will be happy to see them again one day. Right now I am sad that I will not see your smiling face. But, my memories of you are special and will remain with me throughout my days. I love you Dad! With fondness and love your baby daughter Mary.
