Obituary of Ethel M. Sands

Ethel M. Sands of Newton passed away Thursday January 9, 2014 at Barn Hill Care Center, Newton. She was 96. Ethel was born and lived in Englewood prior to moving to Newton in 2011. A clerk with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Englewood for 65 years she retired after 65 years of service. She was very active with the church. She is predeceased by her twin brother Edgar W. Sands and his wife Catherine M., her sister Gladys and nephew Stephen Sands. She is survived by her niece Cathy O'Connell and her husband Bill of Hopatcong; her great nephew Eric of Hopatcong; her great niece Heather and her partner Jason of Milford PA and her "forever friend" Karalenne Gayle. Her last years were made especially pleasant by her longtime nurse Tammy Creighton. Cremation was held privately. A pending Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 113 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ 07631 with interment of her ashes in the church's Memorial Garden at a later date. Memorial donations in Ethel's memory may be made to a charity of a person's choice.
