Obituary of Nicole Detweiler

Nicole Detweiler, of the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, passed away on Sunday December 29, 2013. She was 32. Born on April 6, 1981 in Morristown, NJ, Nicole grew up in Marshall's Creek, PA. She lived in Philadelphia, PA while she attended University Arts where she majored in dance. Nicole also worked and was trained at the Alvin Ailey Dance School and Company in New York City. She has resided in Brooklyn for over 10 years. Nicole worked as a hair stylist for several television productions including Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse, as well as, serving as the personal stylist for celebrity personality, Sandra Bernhard. She was last employed as a Dog Care Specialist for Ruffline in New York City. Nicole loved dancing and attending the ballet and many theater and arts productions. She was also a passionate animal lover. Survivors include her mother, Kathy Hade-Detweiler, father, Keith Detweiler and stepmother, Karen Natale, a brother, Steven Detweiler and his wife, Christina, stepsister Kate Conway, Nicole's companion, Peter Levens and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all whom will miss her dearly. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of Nicole's life on Sunday January 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered on Monday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, followed immediately by chapel services at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Mt. Olive Township. Friends and family may begin gathering at the funeral home Monday morning at 10:00 am. Cremation will be held privately. The family is accepting flowers, however, for those wishing to make a donation in Nicole's memory, please do so to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
