Obituary of Kathleen Keown

Kathleen "Kay" Keown (nee: Ryan) of Mt. Arlington passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the age of 89. Born in Newark, she was raised in Belleville. She lived in Little Falls and Montville before moving to Mt. Arlington 9 years ago. A homemaker, Kay was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church, Mt. Arlington. She was a past member of Petrian Club of St. Peter's Church in Belleville, past member of the Little Falls Women's Club and past member of the 9-Holers of the Upper Montclair Country Club. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards with friends. Beloved wife of Ray (66 years). Devoted mother of Mark and his wife, Susan, and Steven and his wife, Mary. Dear sister of John and Pete Ryan, Patricia Murphy, the late Jim Ryan and the late Joan Malloy. Loving grandmother/ great- grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Kay's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 27 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 28 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church, Mt. Arlington. All are invited to meet directly at church. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
