Obituary of Walter Shay

Walter Shay of Byram Township passed away Sunday August 17, 2014 at home. He was 89. Born in Morristown, to the late Robert and Shirley Shay, he lived in Dover before moving to Byram Township in 1960. Walter was a welder/fabricator who owned Andover Welding in Byram Township. A World War II Navy Veteran, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #42 in Musconetcong and the Budd Lake Hilltop Gun Club in Mt. Olive. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee: Minervino). Devoted father of Thomas Shay and his wife Sandy, Janice Bowman and her husband Sherman, Judith Lapan and the late Donald Shay. Dear brother of Shirley Shay and the late Robert, Felix, Edward, Charles and Kenneth Shay. Loving grandfather of eight and great grandfather of two. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Walter's Life Celebration on Wednesday August 20 from 4-8 PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation at www.wish.org or Autism Speaks at www.autismspeaks.org.
