Obituary of William J. Marinese

William J. Marinese of Netcong, NJ passed away on Sunday, June 28th at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. William was born on August 24, 1925 in the Bronx, NY to the late Joseph and the late Adelaide (Maier) Marinese. Mr. Marinese owned and operated Edward Metje Custom Upholstery Inc. in NYC, NY for many years where he was affectionately known as "Big Bill". He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He lived in Greenville, NY before moving to Netcong a short time ago. He was a past Commander of the American Legion #1456 in the Bronx, NY. William was an avid fisherman, enjoyed photography, but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family. William is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Helen (Messner), his daughter, Karen Marinese and his son, Gary and his wife Cynthia. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Scott Krawchuk and his wife, Laura and Tracey Krawchuk, his great-grandchildren, Paul and William, his brothers; John Marinese and his wife, Ida, and Lawrence Spaulding and his wife, Pat. William's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday, July 1st from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a prayer service on Thursday, July 2nd at 9:30AM also at the funeral home. William will be laid to rest immediately following the prayer service at Washington Crossing National Veteran Cemetery in Newtown, Pa. with full military honors.
